Middle and High School: Full Focus on Educational Apps!
In 2025, Édifice is strengthening its range of educational applications specially designed for middle and high school teachers and students. Here’s what’s ahead in terms of new features and upcoming improvements.
Enhancing and enriching the set of educational tools for middle- and high-school teachers has been one of Édifice’s core projects since 2024. Olivier Vigneau, CEO, explains how the plan came to life: “No one has yet found the magic formula for a simple and scalable LMS for schools. It is frustrating, because Édifice already offers efficient, well-regarded applications for many educational purposes, but we hadn’t yet achieved a truly satisfying balance—especially for high schools. So, after a lot of work, we now have a structured plan that allows us to move forward.”
A New Multimedia Editor for Our Educational Apps
The first step in this initiative was the development of a new multimedia editor. Initially introduced in our communication tools such as Blog, it’s now available in several educational apps like Lectures and Wiki and Collaborative Wall.
With this new editor, it’s much easier to add and modify multimedia content, and to enrich texts with mathematical formulas or emojis. The editor’s interface has also been streamlined and modernized—much to users’ delight!
New Design for the Collaborative Wall
The second phase involved a complete redesign of the Collaborative Wall application. The old corkboard-inspired background is gone, replaced with a more modern and colorful look.
Beyond visual upgrades, the workspace has been expanded to fill the full width of the browser, encouraging focus and creativity. Touchscreen and responsive design usage have been greatly improved. One of the most exciting updates is the ability for over 100 users to collaborate simultaneously in real time.
In January 2025, Collaborative Wall introduced two new backgrounds. The first uses columns to help users structure their notes vertically in a simple way, while preserving the flexibility and creativity that make this tool so popular. The second features a world map in Édifice colors, designed to inspire use in geography, history, and many other subjects.
Lectures and Wiki: The Go-To App for Creating and Sharing Lesson Content
The 2024 overhaul of the Wiki app—now renamed Lectures and Wiki—was highly anticipated. As often happens, it was our users who inspired this evolution. We observed that the Wiki app, originally designed for building cultural and educational resource pages, was frequently used by teachers as a tool for delivering lessons.
This led our teams to develop a more intuitive and smart version of the module. Page creation, sub-page organization, the ability to hide or reveal pages gradually according to student progress—everything is designed to support the learning journey. A table of contents is generated automatically to save time, and the app now includes the new multimedia editor.
Lectures and Wiki has also been integrated into our mobile apps, allowing students to access their courses anytime, anywhere. Meanwhile, our team of secondary school educators is developing ready-to-use Lectures and Wiki content that will be available in the VLE Library, helping teachers discover new ways to use the module.
Redesign of the Educational App: Communities
Teachers now have a powerful tool to create lesson materials, which they can enrich with documents and learning resources. Our job is to make it easier for them to share and organize this content intuitively—without jumping between apps to find related resources in the VLE.
That’s why our teams are redesigning the Communities application to make it a central hub for high school teachers using our VLE.
In its new version, currently under development, Communities will enable the creation of shared workspaces for specific groups (a class, a group of students, a club, etc.).
Teachers will be able to share lessons created in Lectures and Wiki, as well as any other resources created within the VLE’s educational apps. Each Community space will also offer forums for discussion and collaboration among group members.
What’s Next?
Our teams are bursting with ideas to improve the day-to-day lives of middle and high school teachers. We’re actively exploring solutions to simplify homework distribution and submission, and to help students practice more easily. Stay tuned!
