Meet the CISO: The Conductor of Cybersecurity at Edifice

To further strengthen platform security, Edifice has expanded its team. We’re excited to welcome Donald Koffi, our new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), who will be leading the charge in keeping our systems and data safe!

When asked about his role, Donald Koffi uses one of his signature metaphors: “I’m the conductor making sure all the instruments in Edifice’s orchestra—platforms, data, users, and more—play in harmony without missing a beat!”

This poetic approach is part of what makes Edifice’s new “Security Maestro” stand out. His role is critical in ensuring the security of the company, its platforms, and user data. Yet, he has a knack for explaining cybersecurity in an engaging way—whether he’s training teams, guiding policies, or even teaching students how to create strong passwords with a creative twist.

What does a CISO do?

A Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is responsible for designing and implementing a company’s information security strategy. At Edifice, the CISO ensures the security of the virtual learning environments (VLEs) by monitoring emerging threats and protecting platforms from potential vulnerabilities or cyber attacks.

The CISO also plays a key role in helping users—teachers, parents, and students—navigate digital tools safely. Beyond that, they lead internal security efforts, ensuring colleagues use the internet responsibly and safeguard sensitive data. “Not all musicians have the same needs depending on their instrument, so I adapt my message to my audience,” explains Donald Koffi, keeping with his signature orchestra metaphor.

The CISO anticipates mistakes and trains the musicians

To “anticipate off-key notes and keep the symphony running smoothly,” our security conductor doesn’t tune instruments. Instead, he fine-tunes software updates, system configurations, and security tests, all while monitoring for cyber threats and vulnerabilities. And if a string snaps mid-performance? “My job is also to ensure we have backup solutions in place, so the music never stops, even in the face of an attack,” reassures Donald Koffi.

For a seamless performance, our CISO—who is also a member of CESIN (Club des Experts de la Sécurité de l’Information et du Numérique), a leading cybersecurity organization in France—continually refines his expertise. In 2025, he is leading Edifice’s qualification for SecNumCloud certification, which ensures high technical, operational, and compliance standards. The ultimate goal? “To make sure digital education runs smoothly—without any disruptions or unwanted intrusions,” he concludes.
